KHOMITSKY'S FIVE-GAME BAN

In the 53rd minute of Tuesday’s game between Ak Bars and Atlant, defenseman Vadim Khomitsky used his elbow to strike visiting forward Igor Ignatushkin.

The KHL Discilplinary Committee has reviewed the incident and upheld the match referee’s decision to hand Khomitsky a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for causing injury to an opponent by checking to the head and neck area. Dangerous fouls of this nature are subject to additional disciplinary sanctions, and the Committee decided that Vadim Khomitsky must serve a suspension of five games.
